About:

Fiona Davies’ art practice incorporates object, video, photography, projection, installation, performance, and curation, and is based in a trans disciplinary investigation into systems, materials, and processes. Fiona is primarily focused on the patient/hospital interaction and specifically medicalised death in ICU.

News: To be updated shortly

I acknowledge the Dharug and Gundungurra people on whose land I live and work. I pay my respects to their elders past, present and future.

After getting so much value out of really looking at the work Blood on Silk: Magenta No Exit exhibited in the Woman (seen) exhibition at Western Sydney University I decided to post an image and text from selected works from the Blood on Silk Series twice a week. This project started in 2010 so there are many threads of development.

Blood on Silk started as a cross disciplinary collaboration between the late Dr Peter Domachuk, Dr Lee Anne Hall and Fiona Davies. We started looking at all sorts of scientific, ethical, social, cultural, economic and just interesting threads between silk and Blood. Peter died in late 2012 leading to thoughts about how can a collaboration continue when one member has died. The Art Theorist Dr Anne Finnegan has written a very fine essay on this subject that I’ll be posting at that point in the time line.

Some of these posts are on the Blood on Silk page on this website as listed in the above header. All are on social media -Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin. Buttons for those social media links are also in the header above.

Collaboration is such an interesting process and its so difficult to generalise about the how, when and why.
